Work in situ, 2010

Work in situ, 2010

Thursday 8 November 2018

No more carrying my rather large heavy pieces down a flight of stairs.  I have finally had a small studio built in my garden.

Should have done it years ago. I was far too cosy. It is everything I wanted. A good space to work in, a lovely view (particularly now with the autumn colours). And warm!

A piece just from the kiln.

A collection of pieces during the move to my new studio space.

I am just coming to the end of the exhibiting season.
My last exhibition this year at Savill Gardens finishes at the beginning of November. After placing my pieces in three different areas in the garden we finally decided that under a very large tree was the most appropriate. It is very interesting how important it is to place them correctly.

I won't be sorry to come to the end of the season. I had a hip replacement in July which really affected my life. Fortunately I had the most caring of 'carers' i.e.my husband and together we managed to do all the exhibitions that I was committed to.

I have also still managed to produce new work this year despite the hip. Some of which still needs to be fired and others in the biscuit stage. It has always been difficult carrying my work down a flight of stairs - workshop on first floor, kiln in garden but this year particularly so!

I think that problem has been solved but more of that in my next blog.

Another new venue for me is Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire. July 29th - 9th Sept.  It is held in the beautiful grounds of this amazing Hall. A really lovely venue. I attach pictures of three of the pieces I will be exhibiting there:

In August it will be Borde Hill at Haywards Heath once more:

and finally (I hope) it will be Savill Gardens if my work gets selected! 25th Sept - 5th Nov.

I think that is quite enough for one year.

In June I will be showing five pieces at the Art And Soul exhibition. It is held at The Artful Gallery at Hazlemere and is part of the annual studios event 2nd - 17th June  Here are 2 pieces I will be showing:

Oh dear! It's Good Friday already. Time to face the year ahead:
ApArt exhibition at Godalming opens today. The weather is horrid so I do hope all goes well for them and the weather is kinder during the exhibition. It will be the first time I have shown one of my new 'still lifes'. I really like them - hope other do too. This exhibition continues until the 14th April.
My next exhibition this year is at Delamore Arts, Ivybridge in Devon. Quite a long way to go but it looks a lovely venue and I am looking forward to it.  The exhibition is on every day during May.
Next exhibition is at Birtley House at Bramley.  I have shown here many times before but this time I have been involved in the actual designing of the sculpture trail which has been fun. 4th May - 28th May.
I shall be taking some pieces to The Garden Gallery in Stockbridge again this year. I have exhibited there many times in the past but not for the last few years.  I will be taking my piece that I had cast in bronze resin.  It will be very interesting to see how it 'goes down'.
